Annual Talent Show Tryouts

We are preparing for our annual talent show. Tryouts will be held immediately after school in the multipurpose building on the following dates:

• January 23 (Tuesday) - 6th grade

• January 24 (Wednesday) - 8th grade

• January 25 (Thursday) - 7th grade

We would love to have a good variety during tryouts and the show. So if you know of any OGMS students with talent, PLEASE encourage them to try out. But, from previous years, we have learned a few lessons...

1. Students can only try out with one act. For example, they cannot try out as a solo act AND then try out with a group. So that things will run as smoothly as possible, students need to make this decision BEFORE arriving at auditions, not minutes before being called to audition.

2. Groups can have mixed grades. We will just place them in the grade that most of the group members are in.

3. If a student/group has a conflict with the day their grade auditions, they need to inform us in advance so they can audition with another grade. We are not holding individual auditions on a different date than the ones already scheduled.

4. Students/ groups need to provide their own equipment. If they play a piano, they need to bring a keyboard (or their own piano) because we do not have access to a baby grand. And if they play in a band, they need to bring their own amps and extension cords.

5. WE WANT TO HAVE FUN!!! This is not American Idol.

Only the top 4 acts will move on to the show on Friday, February 9th, at 6 pm in the Upper Elementary auditorium. The acts will be announced Friday, January 26th. That gives them two weeks to prepare for the show.
